Veterans honored and remembered at Eisenhower Park
Eisenhower Park recently added a couple hundred veteran names to its wall of honor and today there was a short ceremony honoring these men and women.

Escape 2 New York Festival-Aug. 5th & 7th in...
Another big summer music event has been announced for Long Island. This one, the Escape 2 New York Festival, will take place on the Shinnecock Reservation in Southampton August 5-7 and will feature performances by Patti Smith, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Best Coast, The Psychedelic Furs, and more. Long Island Fest 2011
Long Island Fest is one month away! Bergen Point Country Club and Bayshore Sinai Reform Temple will be hosting the three day event which will feature bands such as Trapped Under Ice, Skycamefalling, Most Precious Blood, I Am the Avalanche, Tripface, Incendiary, and Capital. Smucker's Stars on Ice 25th Anniversary Tour
Tonight the Smucker’s Stars on Ice 25th Anniversary Tour came to Nassau Coliseum. It brought skaters like Olympic Gold Medalist Evan Lysacek, Olympic Silver Medalist Sasha Cohen, and three-time US Champion Michael Weiss.
The skaters started the show by coming out together to perform a dancing and skating routine to Enrique Iglesia’s hit song “I Like It”.

Sunken Meadow State Park
Yes, it is still cold outside, but that doesn’t mean you need to skip the beach completely. Sunken Meadow State Park, located in Kings Park at the end of the Sunken Meadow Parkway, looked beautiful the other day.
With its great views of the Long Island Sound, this park is perfect for a walk along the shore (even in February). The sand was full of the most amazing purple tinted shells.

I spent my Sunday in Northport, in a barn housing Project Sage, a non-profit organization started by Brittany Rostron in 2007. Project Sage seeks to prevent the slaughter and abuse of horses by attending auctions and purchasing horses that would otherwise be killed.

Long Beach Polar Bears Super Bowl Splash 2011
Since 1998, Super Bowl Sunday has brought thousands of Long Islanders to Long Beach to take part in the Super Bowl Splash by taking a dive into the crisp, cool Atlantic. Started by Kevin McCarthy and Pete Meyers, the event has grown and grown, and for the past eleven years it has also been made a fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Aaron Sonnenberg's Snow Photography
Long Island was hit hard by this winter storm—up to two feet of snow in some areas, messy roads, canceled trains and planes.
Blizzards can be aggravating and difficult, but Brooklyn-based photographer Aaron Sonnenberg has captured some beautiful images of snow-covered Amagansett that show the gorgeous stillness that winter can have.

The Islanders on Black and White Film
On Thursday, December 16th, the New York Islanders played the Anaheim Ducks at Nassau Coliseum.

Sands Point Preserve
Looking for a North Shore hangout with great views? Try the Sands Point Preserve in Port Washington. It offers beautiful views of the Long Island Sound and Connecticut, has lots of running space for dogs along with interesting nature trails to explore and two gorgeous castles/mansions, the Hempstead House and the Falaise Mansion. Jimmy Buffett Tailgate
Jimmy Buffett fans don’t mess around. They started arriving at the Jones Beach Theater today at 7am—thirteen hours before the show even started.
They came equipped with massive RVs, blow-up pools, tiki bars, games, and plenty of booze. There were multiple live bands in the parking lot and lots and lots of dedicated “parrot heads”.

Car Show at the Cradle of Aviation Lot
As summer comes to a close, so do the many car shows that fill up Long Island nights. Yesterday at the Cradle of Aviation Museum’s parking lot numerous car collectors, car creators, and spectators came down to view the colorful and unique automobiles on display.
